The Vista Verde Staff created an acronym called S.T.A.R. It stands for: Safety First! There and ready. Act responsibly. Respect self and others. I created these two T-shirt logos to help promote the new language for the staff, students, and community alike.

 

 

The notion of S.T.A.R. and directionality seemed to go hand-in-hand quite nicely. I thought an 8-pointed star (like a compass rose) would suit better than your traditional 5-pointed star. Lucky for me two of the four Cardinal Directions could easily be integrated into the design.
