Travel Notes: The Navajo guide hands the reins back to me with a look of annoyance in his eyes. He should have known my horse was faster than his. How could I not overtake him on the dry, open range? Before saddling, I look back at the balanced rock, Mexican Hat. Its sky gives it motion. Cloud smokestacks line the blue. I mount my horse and wonder "Should I now race this train?"
