Title: Coagulating Clouds Location: Whitney Portal, California Travel Notes: I am confined to my vehicle and crutches. The road that tracks up the mountain is the best place, for me, to watch the darkening sky. I hope the pinks from the night before repeat themselves. The blackness grows. It is night with no light, and I leave a little disappointed. Upon returning to my pine-sheltered campsite, I look above and descry a reddish glow, like fiery fetter, streaking across the sky. I fall back down in my seat and push the pedal. Where's the nearest clearing? I park, hop up on one leg, lean against the car, and fire away. The clouds look bloody and alive. |
